The Allameh Tabataba’i University in Iran has announced launching Pashtu faculty, a move welcomed by the University of Kabul on Friday.
A statement issued by the Allameh Tabataba'i University in Tehran said a delegation of the Kabul University’s literature and languages faculty was in Tehran meeting their counterparts.
The visiting delegation had held talks with Allameh Tabataba'i University officials about Pashtu learning.
The Iranian university officials had stressed enhanced cooperation with Afghan universities and higher education institutes.
Kabul University officials said they were ready to extend every kind of support to the Iranian university with regard to the Pashtu faculty.
Deputy literature department head at Kabul University, Bakht Mir Waziri, told Pajhwok Afghan News that two teachers of his faculty were part of the Afghan delegation in Iran.
He said the two teachers had gone there to monitor the Pashtu faculty at the Iranian university.
“We are ready to cooperate with the Iranians in learning Pashtu and the matter has been discussed with the Kabul University chancellor and is formally pursued.”
Allameh Tabataba’i University is the largest specialized public university in humanities and social sciences in Iran.
